Renzo Piano Monography
Renzo Piano has an excellent ability to integrate the nature of the object with newly developed technologies. This combination has inspired me to create a handmade sewn monograph printed on thick Munken paper (representing nature) and a box for the book made out of strong plastic artificial material (standing for technology). We can feel the difference in materials holding a book in our hands, which enriches our experience of touch. The basic graphic elements in the monograph are simple geometric forms, referring to the construction or the form of the building. These forms dominate in the color scheme black, white, and red. The impression of three-dimensionality and depth of some objects is achieved by applying one form on the other or by overlapping elements of one form with another. The inspiration for me was works of artists such as W. Kandinsky, J. Tschichold, H. Bayer, El Lissitzky, or A. Petrytzkiw
