Art Auction App - Online bidding companion for in-person art auctions ( Polish auction houses)
Key decisions made:
The core MVP is an online bidding companion for in-person Polish art auctions. The primary loop is: register account → register for auction → pre-bid or bid live → receive results. Everything else is secondary.
The biggest architectural challenge is the live bidding room. It requires real-time sync (WebSocket/SSE) and server-side race condition protection on the bids table.
What I cut and why:
- Collaborative collections require invitation flows, permission models, and notification hooks - too much overhead for MVP value
- Payments are explicitly out of scope (paid at the auction house or by transfer
- Artist/category follow feeds require a recommendation/notification engine that adds significant backend complexity
